The Inspector of the National Anti-Corruption Commission announced she will inquire into the decision not to investigate referrals from the Royal Commission into the Robodebt Scheme.

The National Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2022 establishes the Inspector of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC Inspector), who is independent of the NACC and whose role is to oversee the operations and conduct of the NACC to ensure it complies with the law and acts fairly.

On 30 March 2023, the Governor-General, His Excellency the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), appointed Ms Gail Furness SC as the inaugural NACC Inspector. Ms Furness commenced as the NACC Inspector on 1 July 2023.
